Love-story in Abruzzo || Natalya and Alexander

Wednesday, 18 September 2013

If you are dreaming of a honey moon photo session in the most hideaway and private corner of Italy, Abruzzo is one of the best solutions. Having this in mind we set out on our trip to the ancient castle of Rocca Calascio with Natalya and Alexander.

The castle stands as high as 1460 metres above the sea level, in the Apennine Mountains and was founded in the year 1000, then it was sold and rebuilt many times, but in 1703, after a devastating earthquake it was severely damaged and lost its importance as stronghold defence structure. After that earthquake the majority of the castle population had to move downhill giving rise to a small village at the foot of the mountain.

Today the castle and the neighbouring villages of Calascio and Santo Stefano di Sessanio are one of the main touristic attractions of Abruzzo. They draw numerous visitors with their unique character and atmosphere, while the photographers and film directors from all over the world love the breathtaking landscapes that the castle offers. Around here some famous films were shot: ”Lady Hawke” (USA, 1985), “The Name of the Rose” (FRA-GER-ITA, 1986), starring Sean Connery and “The Horizon of Events” (ITA, 2005). The most recent big film project in this area is “The American” (USA, 2010) with George Clooney.

After our photo shoot in the narrow streets of the stone borgo we went directly to the Adriatic coast, where the sun at dawn and seagulls made our beach photo session look even more romantic.
